What is Rhinotopia? It's the utopia for rhinos!

Written by Sarah Soward

Rhinotopia Beginnings is a collection of the first thirty-eight oil paintings in my Rhinotopia series that equate the rhino to the sacred. The paintings work with archetypes from around the world in the form of deities, powers, and forces of nature. The book presents the paintings with art analysis and context to deepen the reader’s connection to the art and, more importantly, to the rhino.

  • Over 30 high resolution images
  • A look into the inspiration and art theory behind each painting
  • So. Many. Rhinos.

Feel good about your purchase as these books are printed on demand to lessen the burden on the environment. Printing takes about 2 weeks before the book is shipped.

      BOOK DETAILS

My Rhinotopia painting series was created to inspire personal connections to the rhino and encourage people to admire and protect them. Once the planned series was complete, I made a book. That 1st edition is no longer in print, so if you have one, cherish it!

Rhinotopia Beginnings is currently in print in two different editions so that all the rhino lovers of the world have options! People asked for a portrait-oriented design in both hardcover and softcover, and people keep telling me they love the original landscape layout too. So, please enjoy this solution: both!

      LUNAR CODEX

      My Artwork on the Moon

Luna, my triple-rhino painting honoring Earth's moon, is going to reside in the Southern Polar Region of that very same moon. My art is not only international, but extra-terrestrial.

Luna is part of The Polaris Collection, payload GM1, going to the moon with the Astrobotic Griffin Mission 1. Enormous thanks to Samuel Peralta and NASA for making this possible.

      Inspiration

I love the natural world! Through my artwork, I seek to honor it and encourage others to love, protect, and conserve it too.

A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of my artwork is donated to the International Rhino Foundation.

      Image Reference

I work primarily from my own photographs of animals, wildlife, and nature. While I paint and create artowrk in my indoor art studio, I gather most of my inspiration outside. I combine any number of photographs along with and my (over-active?) imagination to create my artwork.

"Absolutely Beautiful! I never really looked at rhinos as a beautiful animal...But when you paint them, you make them look so majestic and beautiful but still big and muscular. And let me say maybe peaceful. No one is there to bother them. It's like I see them truly free and happy!!"

Hey Sarah, we hung the painting in our dining room. We had other plans for it, but decided we wanted to be able to look at it often. So, here I sit, having a cup of coffee while enjoying it. Cheers!
