This painting is part of the Rhinotopia painting series.
Still Life is named for the song by Desiderii Marginis. The painting represents Nena and is another excuse for a creation story about rhinos. In this one, they are rising up from the mud in various sizes, with all five species depicted--white rhino, black rhino, Javan (lesser one horned), greater one horned, and Sumatran. Each species is endangered with their numbers ranging from a thousands down to a few dozen.
