I'iwi in the Koa is a painting of a beautiful endemic bird of Hawaii. The bird has a long curved beak, red body, and black wings with a small path of white feathers on each. In the painting, the bird is flying into a koa forest.

The i'iwi is a species of Hawaiian honeycreeper bird found at higher elevations on multiple islands. I spent many hours on big island watching and photographing birds. The landscape is for a koa forest on the Big Island.
