The Golden Gate is a mixed media painting showing a cross section of nature. A honey bee interacts with a dahlia behind a coiled snake. The snake rests on a bed of rocks. Layers of earth and roots show through at the bottom of the painting.
The snake is an endangered San Francisco garter snake. They are harmless and colorful.

This painting is part of the Contralateral Eye project Sarah Soward and Ashli Kingfisher collaborated on for an exhibition at Buuni in New York.
