Archival limited edition print of Preening ʻŌmaʻo by Sarah Soward.
The ʻōmaʻo is a species of thrush that is endemic to the island of Hawaii. The bird looks something like a robin and is primarily grey and brown. Photographing the bird under the canopy of the eastern Hawaii rain forest lent it a lovely purplish hue.
This is also very much part of my Booty Bird series. Foreshortened tail feathers are a fun challenge to paint.
