Original oil painting by Sarah Soward. Oil on canvas. 12x12 inches, unframed, painted on cradled panel.

Every now and then I really want to paint a goat. So I do.

This one is inspired by the constellation and astrology symbol of Capricorn. The stars in the background of this painting are the constellation and surrounding stars. Usually, Capricorn is depicted as a goat with a fish's tail. I'm not all that into painting conjoined animals, so instead, I'm using the Nubian goat's naturally long and fluid ears to give the idea of water.

This one is a Nubian goat (or Anglo-Nubian goat if you're in the UK). They are easily recognized they their luxuriously long ears.
