Compass Rose, Rhino Print
Title: Compass Rose
Series: The Illustrated Rhinoceros Sutra
A compass rose takes center stage in gold and copper tones. The outer circle of it blends out to become four rhino horns, black wings of a large bird, and semi-transparent golden feathers.
The feather textures fade gently back into the mottled gray background, complete with darkened vignette effect around the edges. The directed light of this chiaroscuro effect focus attention and allow the eye to travel around the art piece.
The overall effect is dramatic, dark, but also hopeful.
Emily Dickinson wrote, "Hope is the thing with feathers." I tend to believe that it also has horns, claws, and teeth, as needed. This piece is a hearty combination of those sentiments.
The watermark will not be printed on your finished print. It is there for copyright purposes on the internet.
