Europa is part of my Rhino Moons series. It's a subset of paintings that belong to my larger series, Wandering Stars, that focuses on portraying cosmic bodies and the entities they are named after in the guise of wildlife.
Jupiter, the ever-shapeshifting, turned himself into a stunning white bull to entice the beautiful Europa to him. It worked. She climbed on his back and Jupiter stole her away.
With a pretty pink rhino atop an aubergine buffalo, this is definitely a surreal painting! The Surrealism in my contemporary wildlife art may be subtle at times, but not always.
