Sheltering-in-Place: Day 141

The image is a vingetted photograph of a sketchbook spread. On the left is a line drawing of a rhino protector growing out of a tree trunk. There are a few blossoms on the branches of the tree. The rhino is strong and purposefully scary looking. The text on the image reads Day 141 of (?): Shelter-in-Place 2020 Nothing is going to be good enough. None of this will be perfect. There's no reason to let this stop you. Draw things. Write things. Suck at everything. It doesn't matter as long as you do it. It's even a positive thing if it helps you get well. Healing is the important part. Make the things that will help you heal. I can draw whatever I want or need. If I need protectors, I can make them. None of this is beautiful. This is a sketchbook entry that I revisit less often than I should. Every few years I write something like this to myself. I don't always remember that it's enough to try because trying is doing. (Take that, Yoda!) Trying without giving up is learning. If I keep trying, I don't give up. I grow, learn, heal, make ridiculous paintings, and post pseudo-philosophical blog entries like this one. It all does something.
